JAMIL’S ESSAY

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Jamie’s Essay is a film by Massimo Wertmuller that surveys the major themes of an immigrant child’s desires and aspirations to be recognized by the country in which he lives. This yearning is written on the pages of his notebook in his school classroom, a place where he confronts his issues and interacts with others on a daily basis. For these reasons, his essay is a “story about race” but also about his childhood needs – still infantile – to be included in the only country he feels is home. Actors: Pasquale Anselmo, Cesare Bocci, Anna Sferruzzo, Renato Scarpa. Original music by Nicola Piovani
